Have you seen these 50 super-luxury cars?

Pagani hypercar racers look so out of this world that one was cast in the Hollywood sci-fi film «Transformers 4: Age of Extinction». There are two of these rarities in the collection. Plus a Koenigsegg. The Swedish car manufacturer produces units individually for select customers.

The Ferrari Enzo shot to fame when bikini-clad Hollywood diva Demi Moore climbed into one on the beach in the film «Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle». But the Enzo in the collection pales next to the LaFerrari – the brand’s ne plus ultra – one of which sold for 10 million francs in 2017. Al-Qubaisi owned two of them.

In 2010 a car spotter photographed al-Qubaisi in his Lamborghini Murcielago Reventón in St. Tropez. Only 22 units were ever built of this model, which was designed to suggest a fighter jet. The spotter’s photos indicate that al-Qubaisi was still tooling around in his Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport and an ultra-expensive Mercedes SLR McLaren Stirling Moss. The Stirling Moss does not even figure on the Swiss authorities’ seizure list.

The 918 Spyder is a supercar. Thanks to its hybrid drive, it is very, very fast – and very, very expensive. Many models cost over a million francs. Al-Qubaisi had four of them, and could choose to go for a spin in red, yellow, blue or grey. His Carrera GT, upgraded by the German tuner Gemballa, is the only big-ticket item that the authorities in Geneva were able to seize.

No collection should be without Agent 007’s vehicle of choice. Daniel Craig drove the Aston Martin DBS in «Casino Royale». He would have made an even more striking impression at the wheel of al-Qubaisi’s Aston Martin One-77. Like the name says, there are only 77 of them.

The million-franc-worth blue McLaren P1 is still missing. But one of the two much less expensive McLaren MP4-12 C’s was seized in Geneva. Not that al-Qubaisi seems to have had any particular affection for the «cheaper» car. When it was found, the odometer registered 0 kilometres.

The collection also includes two Mercedes units specially tuned by the engine gurus at Brabus. Dubbed «the baddest Benz» by «Spiegel Online» magazine, the model EV12 is considered the Batmobile of the German motorway.

If it’s elegance you’re after, you can choose among one of seven Rolls-Royces or the Bentley. There is a colour to suit every occasion. And if the weather is fine, there is always the rare and costly, top-of-the-line Rolls-Royce Phantom convertible.

Al-Qubaisi had a veritable fleet of Mercedes off-roaders available for thrill driving. These included several nearly identical G-Class models, which he apparently had in mind to give away. All are equipped with high-performance engines from AMG – where each engine is built by a single technician according to a philosophy of «One man, one engine».

Finally, al-Qubaisi also possessed a few cars that could almost be called «normal». When the BMW X6 was seized in Geneva, the odometer registered 30'000 kilometres. That makes it the only one of the confiscated vehicles that was actually driven regularly. Now, what a minicar like the Cygnet was doing in the collection is anybody’s guess.
